The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), previously known as the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA), is a federal agency within the United States Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) that administers the Medicare program and works in partnership with state governments to administer Medicaid, the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), and health insurance portability standards.

The Characteristics and Perceptions of the Medicare Population Data from the 2010 Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey is a series of source books based on the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey Access to Care data file. This source book is prepared by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The focus of this series is the socioeconomic and demographic characteristics of the Medicare population, their health status, their secondary health insurance, and their access to and satisfaction with Medicare services.
