Access to Care:
Bridging Disparities in
Access to Care and Government Services
Data.gov and other publicly
available sources can help us to identify, illustrate, and address disparate
access to health care, behavioral health, and home and community-based services.
Data-driven innovation, especially when coupled with human-centered design and
customer experience (CX) methodologies, can help Americans to access providers
and medical services. Opportunity exists to harness the power of data and digital
innovation for approximately 9.6 million children enrolled in the Children's Health Insurance
Program (CHIP) and millions of Americans covered by Medicaid. Together, let’s
harness the power of CX and digital innovation to bridge disparities in access
to care and government services.
Use government data to build digital tools with, by, and for
the people.
How can we harness the power of data and digital innovation to lower
barriers, facilitate access to care, and improve government services?
Potential ideas
for exploration
This challenge is
intentionally broad. For example, potential products might focus on:
- Enrollment in Coverage: Create tools and resources to help Americans
understand their eligibility and facilitate enrollment.
- Access to Services: Guide the insured to find
services, reserve appointments, travel to facilities, or communicate with
providers.
- Maintaining Coverage: Clarify how to maintain coverage without interruption, or transition to other insurance
programs.
- Patient Outcomes: Improve the experience and outcomes
of those using government services.
